rebuilding on your own terms
You are not just deconstructing anymore. You are creating.
You have moved past just pulling things apart.
Now the questions are different. Not 'what was wrong with what I believed' but 'what do I actually believe now?' Not 'what did they tell me I was' but 'who am I becoming on my own terms?'
That is a completely different phase. And it is a harder one than people expect.
Because there is no script for this part.
No clear rules about what a rebuilt spiritual life looks like, or how to parent outside the framework you were raised in, or what your values actually are when no one is grading you on them anymore. No external authority confirming that you are doing it right.
Just you. Your desire. Your instincts. Your choices.
And if you are honest, that can feel both deeply freeing and quietly terrifying at the same time.
Because freedom without a compass is just disorientation with better branding.
This is the part where having support is not about someone telling you what to do. It is about having a space to think out loud, to test ideas, to be reflected back to yourself clearly enough that your own compass starts working again.
Your intuition did not disappear. It got buried. It is coming back online. The work now is learning to trust it, one aligned decision at a time.
Try this today: Make one decision based purely on desire. Not fear, not obligation, not what you are supposed to want. Just what actually feels right. Notice what that feels like in your body. That feeling is your compass.
“This is the phase where the Reclamation Space becomes a thinking partner, a grounding space, a community of people also building without a blueprint. Bi-weekly coaching calls, monthly teachings on aligned action and values, and a space that holds your process without telling you what it should look like. CA$67/month founding rate, open now. ”
Hi there, I’m bre,
Your resident Religious Trauma Coach and Ex-Christian Cult Member.
When I left the Christian cult I grew up in, I had no plans to ever ascribe to any faith.
I never had my own personal spiritual connection to God - I was just trying to walk the straight and narrow line that I had been told was “THE WAY”.
I was able to begin healing through a lot of inner personal work on my own, through therapy and life coaches and by being committed to doing the work even when it was SUPER uncomfortable.
Doing so allowed me to reclaim my relationship with spirituality.
